Description
In 2018 I started Ungardening Native Plants, a nursery and consultation business focused on providing people and nonprofits with the knowledge to dive into small-scale ecological restoration projects and the locally native plants to do it with. In 2019 I began growing plants on my family's small hobby farm in Durham, but I'm looking to expand, since the demand for local native plants greatly exceeds my growing capacity. Ideally I'm looking for a place with at least 3 acres and a place for my fiance and I to live. These don't have to be traditionally farmable acres, or even cleared, as my goal is to grow plants for seed collection in a naturalistic way, and that means I will be happy to work with what's there, even restore invasive overrun abandoned fields. Currently, my business (although I hope to transition to a nonprofit soon) focuses mostly on consultations and presentations, land will allow me to increase my plant production, as well as provide more ways for education and outreach. A more detailed bio of myself, as well as links to podcasts and talks I've done, are available on my website, ungardening.org/about but I'm most active on Instagram @ungardening, where I share plant identification and other information. In addition to Ungardening, I am a professional botanist. My fiance is a dental laboratory technician, we have been approved for a traditional loan up to $330,000.
