We are a military family, and as I near my retirement in the next couple of years we are looking to settle down and live a more humble, centered, and self sustaining lifestyle. My wife and I are both city born and raised, and we knew very early on in our marriage that is not the life we wanted for us or our two children. The military gave us the privilege to experience different parts of the country that we otherwise may have not, and we realized that we want our own land to grow/raise our own food and livestock. We are looking for land with the ability to build our home, but if we can find something with farm buildings on it already that would be great. If it is in the books for us we would even love the opportunity to have a cattle ranch of our own, where we are able to provide meat to the north eastern half of the country. We weren't born on a farm or have much experience aside from our 6 chickens, but we feel the ache in our bones to be grounded. We aren't afraid of getting our hands dirty, or the hard work that we know will come with living this type of lifestyle but we are willing to learn and work for it.
