I don't know much about soils, but what is there works. It has launched two couples into successful family farming. Each tested ideas and subsequently bought their own places and both continue to farm. Others have given it a go and decided it took too much work to get the soil to grow food. So, we know the soil works, but it's also pretty clear that the people have to work, too!

Description
In addition to proven sugar maple stand, we have two fields available, each about an acre. One has been organically farmed successfully for local farmers markets and with some ingenuity can be irrigated from a marsh/stream below. A second pasture/field is not fenced, but is adjacent to a substantial barn and could be used for livestock or vegetables. Onsite housing might be available--depending on the timing--for market rent. 4 miles to Storrs Farmers Market and 6 miles to Tolland Farmers Market.
