Avalonia has recently added acreage to its Dutka Nature Preserve in Griswold. There is 5-10 acres of farmland and field/pasture that Avalonia would like to keep in an Ag use. The 3-5 acre field immediately west of Bethel Road has been farmed for corn silage for decades. Once Avalonia acquired the property last year it terminated the former land owner's 3rd party farming agreement due to the farmers preferred use of inorganic herbicides (Roundup) to prep the field for planting in the spring. Avalonia is looking for a farming interest to conduct haying or organic farming. The corn field was planted in grass cover last fall. Any lease agreement would require the leasee to pay town taxes on the land
